NLEI designed the Office Technology Training Program (OTT) to lessen the “digital divide” for individuals who have limited or no knowledge of computers. Education in computer literacy is a crucial factor that influences the prospects of upward mobility. The training introduces personal computers and popular software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The accredited 30-week program places emphasis on keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets, scanning, data entry, proofing, databases, and
accessing the Internet. Classes
are taught in a supportive learning environment.
The curriculum also includes upgrading academic skills in English, spelling, vocabulary, communications, business math, office etiquette, and utilizes simulated work experiences.
